Week 1: Fall Cleaning

By now you should be busy getting ready for the holiday season- regardless of the economic situation! You have to be ready for any sale that comes your way.
But how are you going to get customers to shop with you? BE THE BEST AT WHAT YOU DO!

SoHe Designs presents the 12 week to Christmas. I will share my thoughts and ideas how to sell in this tough economy. Note: It will require work on your and your staff's part (if you have a staff).

My plan is to post "The Tip of the Week" which will concide with a date to give you time to prepare. The first few blog submissions, I will have to play catch up as I see that the calendar is moving! I look forward to hearing from you and what you are doing to make this a successful season.

Week 1 Fall Cleaning
Get ready to clean up your business whether it is the physical location, your desk or your email list.
Your store is your home so...
Sweep it, wipe it,straighten it up, wash it, plaster it, paint it, vacuum it, invest in it!
Move the out of season items to the clearance if necessary.

Email list: send out a generic reminder to your customers that you are still in business and plan to meet their needs, etc. This will quickly tell you which emails are still current.

Plan your days- if you haven't made plans for the season get out your calendar immediately and sit with your staff and start filling in some dates! Here's somethings you can discuss:
Events and activities including guest artists and vendors
Marketing campaigns
Visual merchandising
staff hours

I'll talk about the kinds of events & activities in the coming weeks. But here is something you can look into since it is right around the corner. Columbus Day (Thanksgiving in Canada) generally opens the holiday shopping season! Great opportunity to preview new merchandise! SoHe Designs will be at Circle of Sisters Oct 10 & 11 in NYC's Javits Center.
